The story: Thor must enlist the help of King Valkyrie and ex girlfriend Jane Foster when Gorr the God Butcher sets out to destroy every god in existence.

The verdict: When something appears to be readily available and abundant, it is often taken for granted. Thus as the Marvel franchise releases its 29th instalment, some audiences have begun to demand more and more from each new film, seemingly never quite satisfied. But what Marvel does well, and has always done well, is to provide audiences with incredibly entertaining and engaging films featuring lovable characters - which is exactly what Thor: Love and Thunder does.

This film has a great mix of characters with some old favourites making an appearance as well as some absolutely brilliant cameos. In particular the camaraderie between Thor and Korg is really fun and the film is chock full of jokes and one liners. Those familiar with director Taika Waititi’s work will recognise his trademark humour and it’s safe to say that Thor: Love and Thunder easily passes the six laughs test.

Visually Thor: Love and Thunder is similar to Thor: Ragnarok and is big, bright and colourful. However Thor: Love and Thunder does differentiate itself with some other interesting visuals, including an awesome black and white sequence.

The blend of mythology and superhero appears to have expanded yet again with this film and Thor: Love and Thunder provides audiences with both a film about the gods and the worlds they inhabit and a film very much about being human. Thor: Love and Thunder explores the idea of lost love, friendship and striving to find your purpose or where you fit best.

Overall, Thor: Love and Thunder was a blast on the big screen. Thoroughly engaging throughout and with an electrifying soundtrack, it provided laughs, tears and everything in between.

The rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
